Discussing Politics and Religion

When discussing politics or religion (especially the latter, but both are intertwined much as the Aesculapian staff) it seems you entered 'holy ground'... the primordial foundations where people built their hopes on and outline their lives. It is not wise to enter these waters, for it could ruin friendships and relationships that are to be cherished above all.

Unless of course you are like me... driven by an unstoppable urge to find the chalice, the holy grail, the truth no matter what. When embarking on that journey expect the unexpectable, the possible losses of family and friends, who do not want to join you in this venture, for they have found piece of mind in accepting the 'status quo' as it is and consider ignorance as bliss. So there is an unavoidable possibility you'll wind up alone. Thus before you take the jump, be aware of the consequences, for there is no turning back the moment you set foot on this (for most of us illicit) path to find your way home. For that of course is the end of that journey.

Does that mean that most of the people are not 'home'. Yes, that is truly my conviction based on what I see. The majority takes the "hear no evil-see no evil" approach. This doctrine posits that where there is no knowledge of negativity, negativity does not exist. It has become a religious dictum that: "If we do not hear, see or talk evil, we ourselves shall be spared all evil", which more sounds like the modus operandi of an ostrich, but unfortunately this is more a rule than exception in general human behavior.

It is therefore recommendable for anyone to be very prudent when starting a thread about politics or religion and if pursued to maintain the highest cordiality and respect in the way you vent your opinions, for the odds to come out without the use of gauze and sutures are very small indeed.
